Incentive Schemes

The Bankstown District Sports Club has kindly allowed us to award prizes to athletes who compete for the club on a regular basis. We are given over $4000 for summer and the same for winter.

Bankstown Sports Athletics conducts three main incentive schemes during each season:

  1. Summer (/winter) Incentive Premiership Points
  2. Summer (/winter) Performance Points
  3. Annual ANSW fees, and
  4. Other Incentives

1) Summer Incentive Premiership Points:
Bankstown Sports Athletics Club gives a prize of $100 to the person who gets the most ANSW points during the Kings Premiership competitions (7 weeks). ANSW gives 50 pts for a win, 40 pts for 2nd etc. Then the Club (Clare Brotherton) adds up what each of our athletes gets and we give $100 to the winner.

News! The 2008 Premiership has just finished and our club came 3rd. It is on the ANSW web. News!
Our club has won about $1000 worth of equipment from Kings Track and Field.

The Winter Incentive is different to the Summer. The winter athletes decided to do away with prizes and go for getting their competition fees paid for. It costs them $17 each week of competition so all members now get some benefit. The committee reviews this each year.

2) Summer Performance Points:
The other side of our points is performance based (like decathlon points).
The better you are the more points you get.
The more events you go in the more points you get too.
The purpose is to encourage athletes to compete for us throughout the season. These points are accumulated over the entire season - premiership and all-comers.
We use the Mercier scoring tables. The winner for male and female is $350, 2nd gets $300, 3rd gets $250 etc. Juniors get about $200 for 1st.

If anyone wants to know how the points work they can email me and I will explain to them.
Thanks, Clare Brotherton

3) Annual ANSW fees:

Annual ANSW fees can be paid in winter if athletes compete in a nominated number of events.
Summer athletes can get ANSW fees paid if they compete in 6 of the 7 Premiership comps and 75% of all competitions OR if they have reached Open qualifying National standards.

Other incentives:

Bankstown Sports Athletics also offers a number of incentive schemes for its athletes and coaches and for members seeking to become Qualified Officials.

For participation by athletes in state and interclub competitions, there are rewards for:
